Green Expo Showcases Sustainable Living

The Green Expo is back, bringing sustainable living to life in Vienna. This year’s event promises an exciting lineup of activities and exhibits that aim to educate and inspire attendees on green practices.

What to Expect

The Green Expo, scheduled for Thursday, April 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center, will feature over 30 local exhibitors offering information on a wide range of topics including:

  • Green landscaping ideas
  • Composting
  • Recycling
  • Energy efficiency
  • Solar power
  • Water conservation

One of the highlights of the event is the ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions where local experts like Mala Persaud, owner of Trace, Vienna’s ‘zero-waste store’, and David Biderman, a solid waste and recycling industry expert, will share insights and answer questions on sustainable practices.

Expert Insights

Susan Stillman, an environmentalist, will share her experience designing and moving into a new solar-powered, energy-efficient home. Her home, which received the Phius ZERO design certification, serves as a model for sustainable living.

Barbara Ryan, a Virginia Certified Horticulturist, will provide tips on converting yards to native plantings and sustainable practices, promoting eco-friendly landscaping solutions.

Exciting Additions

This year, attendees can look forward to an outdoor exhibit of ewes and lambs sponsored by Lamb Mowers. Additionally, wildlife experts from Secret Garden Birds & Bees will showcase live birds of prey, offering a unique learning experience for all ages.

Children’s activities will be available to keep the young ones entertained while adults gather valuable money-saving tips on green practices. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes, including a home energy audit worth $595.
